So like I've siad my school is getting a debate team and I am trying to figure out what event I want to do, and I've narrowed it down to LD and Congress, only one problem. I don't really know how either of them “work”. Infact I don't know how any debate events work so do n't be surprised if I ask this question in every debate forum…cause that just might happen…but yeah

So congress….?

Huh?How? What? Advice?

I have bad typing, deal with it .

Congress guru Adam Jacobi's Congress portal (http://www.studentcongressdebate.org) is an excellent source for learning the basics about Congress. Reading his tutorials, particularly Chronology of a Meet and Procedure for Debate, can help understand the basics of Congress. If you have any specific questions after reading these, let me know.

Oh wow, that's awesome.  I needed to review parliamentary procedure and stuff to.  Is there a guide for PO-ing that you know of, Dominic?

Thanks for these :D

Oh my gosh! I just went to that website and it was probably the most enlightening thing I've ever read in my life. Thank you so much.  That was very helpful.

Wow… I didn't realize I had attained “guru” status. Tongue out  I have coached all events, and enjoy other hobbies, too! Wink

I have worked up a presiding guide that I plan on posting there, so stay tuned.
