My school is finally going to get a debate team this year to accompany our kick butt speech team, I plan on being on the tea, but like everyoneelse at my school besides our coach I don't really know anyhting about debate, However I think I would like to do lincoln-douglas debate so I was wondering

-Um, How does debate work, in general..what do you do… i am pretty sure there si some format but I don't know it

 -How do you prepare for lincoln-douglas debate, since it's all philosphical stuff (which it is right?) then how do you prepare for a debate about philosphy?

-any advice in general? I would aprrecaite it, info about other types of debate would also be good.
