Well, Billy, as the one who helps grammar-edit your papers for Ms. Hodge, I'd like to point out that you can't be the “sharpest tool in the shed” when you misspell “sharpest.”  Hahah, I love you and your bad spelling habits!

You'll probably have to wait awhile to get any debate advice here, seeing as no one else has opened any general debate topics, so poke around the other forum threads under the debate heading.  And maybe check with Whitney since she has debated some on the college level.  =)

Being happy doesn’t mean that everything’s perfect; it just means you’ve decided to see beyond the imperfections.

Well, what form of college debate would you like to do? College forensics has two types of debate that a similar to high school– policy, which is almost identical to nationally-level high school policy debate (extremely fast, extemely jargon filled 2v2 deabte), and LD, which is essentially one man policy. Another form of college debate is parlimentary debate, which is almost like extemp-style debate. Not all schools have all of these (in fact, most only have one, if any), but here's information on all 3:

Parlimentary debate: http://www.apdaweb.org/
Policy debate: http://cedadebate.org/
LD: http://cas.bethel.edu/dept/comm/nfa/nfa-ld.html

Let me know any other questions you have!

According to their website (http://www.cn.edu/communication/forensics.htm), they have parlimentary debate. That's the same kind of debate done by most of the Ivy League schools, as well as the most like the speach events. For more info on parli, here's some websites:

Wikipedia overview: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parliamentary_debate
“Intro to Parli Debate” YouTube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usIwM7yg_fI
Sample Parli round, Rutgers vs . Williams and Mary (part 1/4, the rest are on the site): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQ68tIx5uUk

Once again, let me know if you have any other questions.

Actually, you got “bearer” right, but you misspelled “spelled.” “Spelt” is a type of wheat.
