Sorry for the delay, I was having some trouble getting the file uploaded, but here it is now so I hope you enjoy.
In this episode, I go over the ins and outs of learning to rapidly change characters for Humorous, Dramatic, or Duo Interpretation, otherwise known as “popping.”
As a competitor, Nick competed in HI, Duo, DI, Prose, Poetry, Impromptu, Storytelling, and yes, even Congress. Nowadays he gets his fill of forensics by coaching at Holy Ghost Prep and by running this little gem of a website.
Wanna get to know him? Well then, you'd better be a tall, attractive blonde. Just kiddin, Nick likes all hair colors...except for those gingers. Something just ain't right about them.

I used to pop over lines all the time, ahh. This is a great episode, thanks!
Anyone notice the Harvard finalist bowl conveniently tucked on the shelf in the background? Oh, Fox! Great video on the basics, though. Remember that the best performers put it all together–consistent focal points, body movements, character ages. Like Fox said, don’t forget we want to see living breathing characters, not just clean pops and body positions!
*Disclaimer: Nick Fox taught me to pop when I was 14.
That’s no Harvard bowl. I have one of the rare ones with a wooden base, so it’s obnoxiously easy to spot. What you see is just a decorative pewter bowl. But if you want to imagine it’s a trophy I’d be happy to invent a tournament that it could be from.
Also, I remember teaching you to pop…good times. Good times and good stripper dances.
Also if there is anything else you want me to demonstrate, let me know, I’d be happy to make it part of a future episode.
